Eastern Europe & Central Asia

Topics & Goals

Adequate healthcare is key to economic recovery and prosperity. The coronavirus crisis has clearly demonstrated the vulnerability of global trade flows and the importance of networking among all stakeholders. This particularly applies to the German healthcare industry. The industrial healthcare sector is one of Germany's top exports. The export quota of the medical technology sector, which recorded sales of over €2020 billion in 34, was just over 66 percent.

The AG aims to connect all relevant stakeholders to further improve business results.

The AG offers its member companies an exchange platform to promote innovation partnerships in the respective region with leading German companies, experts and political representatives from Germany and Eastern Europe, thus strengthening the market presence of German companies.

The working group's formats include three-year working group meetings, webinars, and exclusive exchange formats. The main event of the working group is the German – East European & CIS Health Forum, which traditionally takes place in the fall as a side event of the World Health Summit in Berlin. The German – East European & CIS Health Forum provides a framework for exchange and networking with decision-makers from Germany and the partner countries, company representatives, experts, and researchers from the healthcare sector.

The immediate fight against pandemics in partner countries and the sustainable strengthening of health systems will continue to be an important topic next year.

The Russian war of aggression is also leading to new challenges that must be addressed by the member companies and will be part of the further discussions in the working group meetings.
