As Europe's largest pharmaceutical aid organization, action medeor has been committed to sustainable and improved healthcare for people, particularly in countries of the Global South, for almost 60 years. The non-profit organization's headquarters are in Tönisvorst in the Lower Rhine region. From here, health stations in approximately 100 countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia receive medical assistance every year. In the event of an emergency or disaster, action medeor is able to send medicines, medical supplies, and instruments to the disaster area within a few hours. In addition, action medeor, together with local partners, implements health projects in the areas of prevention, diagnostics, and therapy. As part of its pharmaceutical consulting services, action medeor trains healthcare personnel, sets up research laboratories, and supports the establishment of local drug production facilities. Around half of the medicines and medical supplies that action medeor sends to health stations worldwide are donated to the recipients. Some of these donations come from in-kind donations from the pharmaceutical industry. Many companies also enter into partnerships with health NGOs as part of their CSR activities.
