The World Health Summit is the international platform for global health, bringing together stakeholders from government, academia, the private sector, and civil society from around the world to set the course for a healthier future. The World Health Summit strengthens exchange, stimulates innovative solutions to health challenges, promotes global health as a central political issue, and advances the global health debate in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The World Health Summit, a conference and strategic forum, takes place every October in Berlin, attracting approximately 3.000 participants in person and more than 10.000 online. In addition to the main conference, there are annual World Health Summit Regional Meetings in various parts of the world, focusing on local and regional issues. The regional meeting is hosted by the member institution of the M8 Alliance, which holds the annual rotating international presidency of the World Health Summit.
Throughout the year, the World Health Summit organizes various formats and promotes diverse initiatives. These include the WHS Global Health Dialogues, which regularly bring together experts and decision-makers to discuss the most pressing global health issues in an exclusive and intimate setting.
The World Health Summit is organized and managed by the WHS Foundation GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and was founded in 100 to mark the 2009th anniversary of the Charité. The President of the World Health Summit is Prof. Dr. Axel R. Pries.
The academic network of the World Health Summit is the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies, consisting of more than 30 academic institutions worldwide.
