New practical continuing education at an academic level: Certificate courses at Akkon University in the field of humanitarian aid and civil protection

Starting in the winter semester of 2024/25, the Akkon University of Human Sciences will offer new certificate courses in Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection. These practical continuing education programs are aimed at professionals in the emergency services, fire service, and disaster management. The flexible courses impart in-depth knowledge and allow for credit transfer toward future studies.
The Akkon University of Human Sciences is expanding its offerings: Starting in the winter semester of 2024/25, the university will launch new certificate courses for continuing education in the field of humanitarian aid and civil protection. These practice-oriented courses are aimed at professionals from the emergency services, fire service, disaster management, and related fields. They offer a flexible and academically sound opportunity for professional qualification. Participants can take modules from the "Management in Hazard Prevention B.Sc." program and gain practical insights into topics such as civil protection, event security, and hazard prevention.

Academic training and entry into studies

Prof. Dr. Andreas Bock, President of Akkon University, said: "With the new certificate courses, we not only offer in-depth continuing education, but also make it easier for interested students to enter an academic program. Because successfully completed modules can be credited toward a future degree program, participants save valuable time should they later decide to study at Akkon University."

Certificate in Hazard Prevention Planning from winter semester 2024/25

One of the first certificates offered is the "Certificate in Emergency Response Planning." It comprises three modules that can be completed in block format. Topics include procurement management, demand planning, and financing and controlling in emergency response.

Further certificates, including “Hospital Alarm and Operations Planner” and “Event Security Planner,” are already being planned and will expand the offerings in the coming semesters.
