Syria: Malteser International launches emergency aid in the coastal region

Cologne/Gaziantep. Following the violent clashes in recent days in the coastal region of Syria, the humanitarian situation is tense. Many people are fleeing. To provide rapid assistance to affected families, Malteser International is launching emergency relief measures and providing people with food and medical support. Hospitals are receiving medicines, and 600 families are receiving basic food supplies.
"We are currently receiving numerous calls for help from the coastal region of Syria, where many have been injured and killed in recent days. People have had to leave their homes because they no longer feel safe. We will support these people, just as we have been helping other refugees in the country for years," says Lena Schellhammer, Syria and Turkey Officer at Malteser International. Malteser International is working with local partner organizations to achieve this.

Malteser International has been helping people in Syria since 2012, primarily in the health sector. They also provide them with water, hygiene materials, and food.
