Sustainability is a key concern for us and our members. We are committed to long-lasting, high-quality products, responsible use of resources, and a long-term commitment to the healthcare sector. Because sustainable health means not only better care and environmental protection, but also stable healthcare systems, resilient structures, and cost-effectiveness.
With initiatives like the Green Hospitals study and the call for systematic tendering, we are making concrete contributions to embedding sustainability in healthcare – ecologically, economically, and socially. The study examines how hospitals worldwide can be planned, built, and operated more sustainably – with a focus on energy efficiency, resource conservation, and improved patient care.
Systemic tenders consider not only individual products but entire supply solutions – from infrastructure and equipment to training and maintenance. This enables long-term, sustainable supply that equally incorporates quality, efficiency, and environmental aspects. Our study on systemic tenders demonstrates practical ways in which such procurement processes can be designed in a strategic, sustainable, and impact-oriented manner.
The health partnerships we have designed together with partner associations also offer the potential to specifically strengthen sustainability aspects – be it through local training and continuing education, climate-friendly technologies, or the development of resilient local structures.
