FGFE: Towards sustainable and universal health coverage in times of Covid-19 | November 18, 2020

18. November 2020 | 15:30 - 18:00 CET

How to make transition processes work.
Towards sustainable and universal health coverage in times of Covid-19

18 November 2020, 3:30pm-6:00pm (15 minutes break)

The Global Fund against HIV, TB and Malaria has been active in more than 100 countries over the past 18 years. With the support of the Global Fund, over 38 million lives have been saved in these countries. But when these countries transition to a higher income status or achieve a lower disease burden, the Global Fund must reduce its support.

By 2025 more than 20 countries will lose eligibility status at the Global Fund. That means, these countries will have to cope with reduced external financing and technical support. Even though the Global Fund supports countries to prepare for successful transitions, those processes remains to be complex situations for the countries involved, further aggravated by the COVID 19 crisis.

Friends of the Global Fund Europe have already organized a conference on this important topic in 2018. With a follow-up online conference, briefly before the G20 summit in Riyadh, Friends of the Global Fund Europe want to sustain the debate about what relevant actors might contribute in order to make sure that these transitions processes are as successful as possible.

The conference will be streamed live at YouTube and Facebook

The conference’s schedule and more information can be found here.
