DESCRIPTION: \nThe Ambassadors‘ Day will take place at Siemens Healthineers, a leading medical technology company, and will include a visit to the Experience Centre, a tour of a production facility and a short forum on diagnosis and treatment of non-infectious diseases, especially oncology, which are becoming increasingly important worldwide.\n\n\nSince 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic in particular has preoccupied health systems worldwide. This has automatically marginalized other important issues such as NCDs. That applies especially in countries with chronically weak health systems. At the same time, the absolute numbers of NCDs like cancer, are rising rapidly around the globe. On the African continent, for example, they will soon overtake communicable diseases as the leading cause of death. This dilemma can only be overcome through a concerted effort by all stakeholders in health care - governments, and the private sector – working together.
