The Federation of German Industries (BDI) and the GHA – German Health Alliance are pleased to invite you to the virtual Business 7 (B7) side event “Pandemic Preparedness and the Future of Health Systems” on Friday, 13 May 2022, from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm CET.

On the occasion of the G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting in Berlin in May, we would like to launch this virtual B7 side event to present the main recommendations of the B7 position paper on health.

We are very much looking forward to the keynotes by

• Dr Thomas Steffen, State Secretary, German Federal Ministry of Health
• Iris Plöger, Member of the Board, Federation of German Industries (BDI)

followed by the panel discussion dedicated to the topic “Pandemic Preparedness and the Future of Health Systems”. The state of a country’s health infrastructure has a significant impact on global health security, as we unfortunately learned during the current COVID-19 pandemic. This raises the following questions: How should health systems be shaped in the future in order to be better prepared for pandemics? How much investment is required? What are the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic?

Susanne Uhlmann, Partner, Life Sciences from Deloitte, will guide you through the panel discussion.

Within the framework of Germany’s G7 Presidency, the BDI represents the German industry in the Business 7 and has received a mandate from the German Federal Government to accompany the various working groups in the B7 process in close coordination with the BDA and the DIHK, including the B7 working group on health policy. A consolidated policy paper on health with concrete and implementable recommendations for action was prepared together with the business associations from the G7 countries.

We look forward to a fruitful exchange with the German Federal Ministry of Health, representatives of leading companies, and experts from the health sector.
