In summary, the Barrier Tent creates an additional protection between the healthcare provider and ventilated patients with Covid-19. The device is intended for intensive care units, operating rooms, hospital emergency departments, Air Ambulance, ground medical rescue teams, internal and external hospital transport, nursing care or other residential care facilities offering certain levels of hospital care.
The Polish Ministry of Health has issued an initial order for 8,000 units. A number of companies and other institutions are buying Barrier Tents for hospitals to support doctors in their fight against coronavirus and to improve their safety.
The Barrier Tent is a simple construction, easy to use, disposable and economical. The prototype is made of a 0.3 mm thick translucent foil. Resembling a small pop-up tent, the device covers the upper body area and head of the patient, with two sleeve openings with elastic ends providing easy and secure access to treat the patient. The structure requires a ground stabilization system and reinforcement, consisting of adhesive tape adhesive as an integral element. A similar solution is currently not available on the medical market.
This pioneering innovative device has been developed for the Center for Medical Simulation and Innovation of the Medical University of Warsaw (CSMI WUM) under the leadership of its President and Manager, Dr. Marcin Kaczor, an anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist affiliated with the Medical University of Warsaw.
It is intended to be used in situations where it is not yet known if the patient has been infected with coronavirus as well as when the infection has already been confirmed. We believe that its use can be quite extensive, it can apply to both in-patient care and hospitals, including operating rooms, intensive care units and hospital emergency departments.
Marcin Kaczor, MD, President of CSMI WUM
CSMI WUM invites inquiries to discuss cooperation in promoting the broad goal of reducing the risk of containment. We believe the Barrier Tent will play a useful role for health care professionals and institutions engaged in facing the current or future viruses. Information on the price of the Barrier Tent and terms of supply and delivery are available upon request.
