Women Global Health – What role do women and female health play in global health?

Background:
Women’s health and the role of women in healthcare are still neglected topics in the field of global health. In recent years, however, the topic has come more into focus. This has been advanced through a variety of avenues, such as advocacy platforms, focusing on mother-child health in development cooperation or on the importance of female work force in the health sector, and by courageous innovators who develop and successfully implement their ideas for improving health care into viable business models. But even though, for example, female entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector generate an average of 35% better returns, only 2% of venture capital investment has gone to women so far.

We would like to take up these topics in an expert level roundtable discussion and discuss the following focal points:
– Gaps in women´s health and solutions
– Role of women in the health sector and global health institutions
– Equal opportunities in the healthcare system
– Healthcare education
