» Company turnover of around 34 million euros as of the end of the year
» New parent company Atos Medical supports further strong growth
» Ambitious plans for 2022: North American market entry announced
(Nieder-Olm, February 2022) – Sustained high demand, management restructuring, new owner – TRACOE medical, one of the leading developers and manufacturers of medical devices and aids for tracheostomy and respiratory care patients, looks back on an eventful and successful year. With a 9.6% increase in sales over the previous year to around 34 million euros, the company, headquartered in Nieder-Olm (Rhineland- Palatinate), is drawing an extremely positive balance for 2021. Dr. Thomas Jurisch, Managing Director and Spokesman for the Management Board of TRACOE medical: “This means that we have considerably exceeded our expectations. This is due not least to a significant growth in our international business.” The demand for the company’s “made in Germany” quality products was so strong, particularly in South American countries, including Colombia, Chile, Peru and Argentina, that
TRACOE medical was able to record an increase of 25.7% over the previous year, which was almost 17% above our target. The medical technology manufacturer has 6 of its 20 largest
customers in this part of the world. However, national business also showed a consistent positive growth in 2021.
One of the reasons for this is the enormous increase in sales of the TRACOE vario product group – eight types of soft, flexible tubes with an adjustable neck flange. These can be used for patients with a wide range of physical conditions and are therefore in such demand, particularly in the ongoing pandemic, that growth in the group increased by a total of 44%. Sales of the percutan product group – 14 different tubes from the core TRACOE medicals range, which are used in particular in intensive care medicine, due to their patented, minimally traumatic insertion system – also increased significantly by 17%. Internally, TRACOE medical is also reporting an increase: “In 2021, we hired a total of 26 employees, primarily in production, in order to be able to meet the ongoing high demand,” says Dr. Thomas Jurisch. TRACOE medical thus now has a total of 277 employees in Nieder-Olm.
Restructuring at the highest level
A restructuring of the company management took place in May, when Rimm Elfu was appointed Managing Director of TRACOE medical and, together with Dr. Thomas Jurisch, subsequently formed a dual leadership team. This was following in the fall by another far-reaching event in the company’s history: On October 1, 2021, Stephan Köhler, until then the sole shareholder, sold his shares in full to Atos Medical, the world’s leading manufacturer of laryngectomy products and TRACOE medical’s new corporate parent. Dr. Thomas Jurisch:
“The change of ownership was an important step for our next growth leap, which will have no impact on our operational business, our employees, our location, or our products. However, the complementary portfolio of Atos Medical offers us numerous opportunities – conversely, ours perfectly complements that of Atos.” The two leading manufacturers in their industry are thus joining forces and positioning themselves even more strongly for the future. Brit Meelby Jensen, who as CEO of Atos Medical (Malmö) prepared and executed the acquisition of TRACOE medical on October 1, 2021, will step down next month as part of the acquisition of Atos Medical by the Danish medical technology manufacturer Coloplast, and Caroline Vagner Rosenstand will take over her position.
Booster for Quality Control, ERP software and website
In order to further improve quality and working conditions, TRACOE medical invested in particular in the Quality Control area in 2021. Within its premises at Reichelsheimer Straße 9-11 in Nieder-Olm, the company established a so- called “pilot plant”, a small office complex for measuring and testing activities, which was accepted by TÜV Süd without any serious deviations during the most recent audit. As part of its digitalization strategy, TRACOE medical also renewed its ERP software “proAlpha” and expanded its range of functions as of February 1, 2022. In addition, the medical technology manufacturer is currently undergoing a complete relaunch of its corporate website, which will bring about a significant improvement in terms of usability and user experience.
Big plans for 2022
TRACOE medical has a lot planned for this year. The company aims to increase sales by 6% to more than 36 million euros. This ambitious goal is to be achieved, among other things, through the planned market entry into the USA. Rimm Elfu: “We want to start selling our products on the North American market and are initially concentrating on the United States to do this. We will also combine our international sales forces with those of our new corporate parent and intensify our cooperation with Atos Medical’s subsidiaries – initially in Scandinavia and in selected countries within the EU,” the Managing Director continued. “We are very grateful for the fantastic development of TRACOE medical, and will continue to defy the challenges of the ongoing pandemic and look forward to a good and hopefully, healthy 2022.”
