Schölly Fiberoptic GmbH is once again undergoing a reorganization of its shareholding structure. Aesculap AG will become the sole shareholder on January 1, 2023 and will thus take over the entire company shares of the family business. Aesculap already became the main shareholder in April 2021. The management with Prof. Dr. Holger Reinecke, CEO and at the same time board member at Aesculap, Markus Wintz (CFO) and Günter Olbrich (CMO) will continue to run the business of the company, whose business focus will remain unchanged. The company’s founder Regula Schölly will step down as Managing Director on 01.01.2023. Schölly will continue to offer visualization expertise to all interested customers. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
“It is a big step for me, my family and the entire organization, but it is the right one for the future of the company in these challenging times. New directions are needed to grow and secure Schölly with its employees. The upcoming challenges with the rapid developments inside and outside the company hold great opportunities, but require equally great efforts to be successful in the long run. In February 2023, Schölly will celebrate its 50th anniversary. This is a good time to hand over the baton,” says company founder Regula Schölly.
Dr. Jens von Lackum, CEO of Aesculap AG and member of the B. Braun board responsible for the division, is happy about the developments. “We look forward to the realization of further innovations, which we are already actively driving forward and have identified as key technologies. We greatly appreciate the great trust placed in us and are certain that we will continue to be successful,” says Dr. von Lackum.
Aesculap and Schölly have been working together intensively in the field of endoscopic visualization since 1989. Initially formed as the joint venture Aesculap Fleximed GmbH, this was followed in 1998 by Aesculap’s entry as a shareholder into Schölly. Over the years, the product range of Aesculap and Schölly has been continuously developed and expanded in a strategic partnership. The 3D camera system EinsteinVision® is the best-known example of this cooperation and is already established on the market in its third generation. The partnership was recently underlined with the additional appointment of Prof. Dr. Holger Reinecke to the Management Board of Aesculap AG as of July 1, 2022.
