The Africa Business Network was launched by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). Its aim is to offer comprehensive consultation services and support to companies seeking to set up business operations in Africa.
Africa Business Network – providing consultation and support for German SMEs
The Africa Business Network was established by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and offers comprehensive consultancy services and support to German SME companies seeking to set up business operations in Africa. It constitutes a strong network of German foreign trade and investment promotion agencies such as the network of chambers of industry and commerce abroad, Germany Trade & Invest, the market development program and the export initiatives of the BMWi – as well as associations and institutions with Africa expertise.
The Africa partner – designated contact person for companies
The Africa Business Network provides interested companies with a designated contact person – an Africa partner, who will assist the companies throughout the entire consultation process. The Africa Partner will give a general overview of all support services available and provide initial consultation relating to a company’s specific business project. For more detailed advice or assistance regarding a specific matter, the Africa Partner will refer the company directly to the help desks of the relevant German foreign trade and investment promotion agencies.
Up to 40 hours of free individual consultation
In 2019, the African Business Network launched its activities with three pilot projects for Ethiopia, Ghana and Morocco with additional offers for opening up markets in Africa, each involving webinars, informational events and business initiation trips. These pilot projects also offer up to 40 hours of free consultation services. This service is currently available to companies interested in implementing specific business projects in the following areas: in the healthcare industry in Morocco, within the value chains of the textile and leather sector in Ethiopia or in the food processing technology and logistics in Ghana.
