The South African National Department of Health, Fundisa African Academy of Medicines Development, the Faculty of Health Sciences in Brandenburg/Germany, and the Berlin-based HTA expert company Scenarium are happy to invite you to the international Workshop on

“HEALTH ECONOMICS AND PHARMACOECONOMICS: OPPORTUNITIES FOR GERMAN – AFRICAN COOPERATION”

The hybrid event will take place on 30 – 31 October 2021, at the main lecture hall at Potsdam University (Germany), and by virtual participation. This will provide an excellent occasion for scientific engagement between HTA experts, students and young scientists from institutions in Europe and Africa. Speakers include senior officials from government and HTA agencies, as well as industry and academic experts.

Africa is one of the world’s fastest-growing economic regions. In addition to multinational as well as small and medium-sized international companies active on the African continent, an increasing number of local companies engage in the development, production and marketing of pharmaceutical products, medical de-vices and diagnostics across Africa. There are many examples of successful partnerships between German and African stakeholders.
At this workshop, recognised experts from Europe and Africa will explore potential use and applications of pharmacoeconomic tools for medicines, medical devices and diagnostics in the African context, including Primary Health Care settings. The workshop will emphasise upcoming trends in HTA and the use of the pharmacoeconomic toolkit in light of health systems strengthening towards universal health coverage. The format will provide an opportunity for networking between various stakeholders and for capacity building.
