Postponed: Health Innovation Exchange at 73rd World Health Assembly | May 17-21, 2020
***Due to Covid-19, the 73rd World Health Assembly will be organized by videoconference in a virtual format. For this reason, this year’s Health Innovation Exchange global annual event and Health Innovation Marketplace will be postponed.***
GHA – German Health Alliance is acting as key partner of the Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx) global annual event taking place on the margins of the 73rd World Health Assembly, May 17-21, 2020 in Geneva, bringing together a variety of global health leaders, decision makers, investors and innovators aiming to fast-track outcomes towards SDG3 targets.
Selected innovators will have the opportunity to showcase their solutions at a Health Innovation Marketplace and pitch their ideas to an international audience. They will get to personally interact with implementers and investors, as well as create partnerships with other innovators and change-makers. At the launch of the HIEx during WHA 2019, 52 Ministers of Health and their delegations have visited the Health Innovation Marketplace.
The innovations will be shortlisted through an expert review. While welcoming a variety of innovations that have a potential to support countries towards reaching the SDG3 targets, from selected final innovations the Health Innovation Exchange will award top innovations in the following categories:
- Digital health
- Financial innovations for access to health
- Innovations for the last mile in healthcare delivery
- Community innovations

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.
