From 19.06.2023 to 23.06.2023, AHK Vietnam, on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, will conduct a business initiation for German suppliers and service providers from the healthcare industry with a focus on medical technology to Vietnam. This is a project-related funding measure. It is part of the Health Industry Export Initiative and is carried out as part of the market development programme for SMEs. The target group is primarily small and medium-sized German enterprises (SMEs).

Vietnam is a country on the upswing. The cornerstone of economic development was laid by the Doi Moi reforms introduced in 1986, which heralded the transformation process from a socialist to a market-based and liberalised economy and made trade with capitalist states possible. The privatisation of productive assets and the foreign investors attracted by the economic reforms laid the foundation for largely constant GDP growth rates. In the last half decade, annual GDP growth has invariably been between 6 and 7.1 per cent.
With the ongoing recovery of the economy after the Corona pandemic and the re-opening of the country to tourism in March 2022, GDP growth is expected to return to old levels and reach 6.5 per cent in 2022.
