Committed Global Health Working Group produces important recommendation for action on global health development for the G7
Together with the BDI, GHA – German Health Alliance, has taken on the leading role for the preparation of the position paper “Health Policy” for the B7. In its function as competence carrier around the topics of global health development and health economy, GHA combines wide-ranging expert knowledge in this field together with an international focus.
The explicit recommendations for action from the consolidated Health Policy Paper will be presented to Chancellor Scholz at the B7 Summit in Berlin on June 20, 2022.
The german economy in the Business 7 Group is represented by the BDI, with Germany holding the G7 presidency this year. The BDI has therefore been mandated by the German government to accompany the various working groups in the B7 process in close coordination with the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations (BDA) and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), this includes the B7 working group on health policy.
Experts within the German Health Alliance took the lead in developing the topics aligned with the German government. The focus has been on the following areas: the role and vaccination goals of the WHO, the challenges of vaccine procurement and vaccination campaigns, the management of possible future pandemics, and their impact on the global economy and supply chains.
The B7 process includes a total of 6 working groups; Trade Policy, Digital Policy, Climate Policy, Labor and Education, Infrastructure Policy and Health Policy.
The members of the B7 are leading business and industry associations of the G7 countries. They develop concrete recommendations for action on the topics of the G7 agenda.
Every year, the B7 members meet with the respective G7 presidency at the B7 summit to hand over these recommendations.
The B7 thereby represents an elementary link between national and international levels.
In the B7 Health Policy Working Group, a consolidated position paper on health with concrete and implementable recommendations for action was drawn up together with the business associations from the G7 countries.
