Despite all the unforeseeable obstacles brought over the past year by COVID-19, the new developments at medifa did not stop. After only 11 months of development with great internal and external efforts, analyses, simulations, prototypes and fine-tuning, the first medifa H!Light surgical lights were installed and put into operation in the first week of December at Siloah St. Trudpert Klinikum Pforzheim.
The innovative lighting technology of the medifa H!Light operating light enables the surgeon to see in the best possible way and ensures good working conditions for the surgeon and nursing staff during the procedure.
The cold light of the LED surgical light protects the patient’s tissue from drying out and is extremely energy-efficient. The compact, flat light head made of aluminium is flow-optimised and manufactured without edges, screws or notches in order to meet high hygienic demands in the operating field and to ensure a long lifespan of the LEDs through very good heat dissipation. The cover of the operating light made of VSG glass offers a high level of safety and good disinfection possibilities.
The medifa H!Light achieves convincing technical data. With an illuminance of up to 160,000 lux, a field size adjustment of 18-32 centimetres and an endoscopy mode, it precisely supports the requirements in the operating theatre.
Realistic colour rendering of tissue and wound structure is achieved by the adjustable colour temperature of 3,000 to 5,500 Kelvin. The latest medifa LED technology for a homogeneous mixture of cold and warm white LEDs behind the high-tech lenses creates brilliant lighting conditions, enables exact focusing and is very low-maintenance and durable as there are no movable parts.
Over 330 individually calculated free-form facets per lens enable a beam path concept that passively avoids the formation of shadows. With the active shadow management of the medifa H!Light plus, additional sensors ensure automatic light guidance and intelligent control of the individual LEDs and thus homogeneous illumination of the entire working area.
Thanks to the universal handle holder, the operating light is well equipped for all requirements in day to day hospital use. The use of a disposable handle, a sterile handle or a 4K and HD wireless camera on the same light head is possible and can be changed without tools. Optionally, the main functions of the operating light can be intuitively operated on the sterile handle. The modern touch-based operating concept with memory function facilitates the setting of all functions.
In combination with the camera that can be integrated in the handle, video signals can be transmitted encrypted and wirelessly, without any impact in the monitor carrier. Retrofitting of the modern video technology can be carried out without tools.
