Bonn/Berlin 21.09.2022
The high attendance at the GHA-German Health Alliance Members Meeting on September 11 and 12, 2022 in Berlin highlighted the enormous significance of having such an important alliance in the health development sector.
The event at the Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus in Berlin brought together numerous players from the medical technology, pharmaceutical and NGO sectors, as well as high-profile guests and speakers from politics and the healthcare industry.
The focus of the event, which was organized in cooperation with the BDI (Federation of German Industries), was on the topic of global health, which was examined from various perspectives in the day program and at the evening dinner reception. Both the role of Germany in the global health development, the overview of international health markets, as well as the successful cooperation between the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German business community were transparently addressed and discussed.
“We are pleased that so many esteemed members and cooperation partners of the GHA accepted our invitation to personally participate in the GHA General Meeting as well as to engage in intensive exchange,” said Erhard Fichtner, Chairman of the GHA Board of Directors.
The presentation of the GHA working groups with their already achieved goals also gave a comprehensive picture of the high-caliber players who contribute their expertise to relevant projects.
Speakers at the event included BDI President Professor Dr. Russwurm, Tanja Gönner from the German Society for International Cooperation, and Head of Department Dirk Meyer from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
During the opening discussion of the evening event, Professor Dr. Russwurm emphasized the importance of the industrial healthcare industry for Germany, which accounts for over one million jobs. He emphasized that politics must take action to ensure the competitiveness of this sector in the international context as well as in the export business in the long term.
The political commitment of the GHA in the context of global health development, the participation in position papers and recommendations for action for the B-7/G-7 meetings as well as far-reaching international cooperation with important players are of enormous importance. The GHA underpins Germany’s role in global health issues worldwide, bringing together expert knowledge and long-standing expertise. The GHA successfully unites a large part of German medical technology companies.
The further development of the German Health Alliance and a focus on expanding connections to other important organizations in the health sector as well as an expansion of the commitment to the topic of global health are among the declared goals of the GHA.
