Since the beginning of May, Alexander Glänzel from Barkey GmbH & Co. KG represents the GHA – German Health Alliance in Bangkok. “As GHA-representative, I would like to bring the idea and the spirit of the GHA-network in my new home in Bangkok and establish the GHA as a well-known and reliable contact for healthcare from Germany in South East Asia within a few years”, Glänzel explains his motivation and vision.
Glänzel plans to network GHA members who are active in the region with each other and with suitable individuals, companies and organisations in Thailand and throughout South East Asia. To this end, Glänzel is planning informal meetings, such as during the Medical Fair Asia in Singapore in December. “I would like to provide assistance in the search for suitable partners and information. And to increase the awareness of the GHA among AHKs, NGOs and other private and state local organizations and companies,” Glänzel emphasizes.
First Southeast Asia activity: virtual business initiation trip
On May 25, Glänzel will present GHA as part of a virtual business initiation trip conducted by trAIDe GmbH on behalf of the BMWi. This will give interested German companies an insight into the Thai health care market and give them the opportunity to establish initial contacts with potential partners.
Glänzel has the best qualifications as GHA representative
“My particular strength is networking. I see myself as a link between people from different cultures and functional areas. On the one hand, I am the link between German market participants and people from the multi-layered Asian countries. On the other hand, as a graduate engineer and business economist, I am able to understand and communicate the aspects and needs of different specialist groups,” Glänzel describes himself.
Glänzel has been Head of Export for Barkey – human warmth – since 2013 and has been working in the new Representative Office in Bangkok since 2019. Prior to this he was on the board of the pharmaceutical company Ruhrpharm AG.
For almost ten years, Glänzel has spent more time in Asia than in Germany, and moved to Bangkok at the end of 2019 in order to be closer to the rapidly growing Asian market in terms of space, time and culture.
The network of GHA representatives around the world is an integral part of GHA’s efforts to consolidate and expand GHA’s presence in international markets. With Glänzel, GHA has gained the ideal new representative.
